My first post after three weeks at Goldsmiths with no time to scratch myself. Trapped nerve in my neck, reading myself into a performative Cinema Verite frenzy with The Maysles and Rouch and Grierson. John Grierson said "Documentary is the creative treatment of actuality." John Grierson, the Father of Documentary. Me, Adrienne Grierson. My father says he was my grandfathers cousin but I am having a challenge joining the dots. He cut quite a dashing figure in his younger years.
Trying to make sense of Brian Massumi, "The Autonomy of Affect" a film theorist who gets into the quantum "mysterious half second" between somewhere and somewhere else in our minds, a place so small, he renders it lost and yet it holds the key to all intensity and potential. Indeed a  tricky situation. I really like the small quantum conclusions and all the stories but.........
Between M and I there is an ass.
