Aileen Wournos Essay Trauma

1/25/2009

I chose Nick Broomfieds Aileen Portrait of a Serial Killer for my Narrative in Practice essay. I would almost rather eat my right arm, or do bad improv at the UCB in NYC or lie on a bed of nails than write an essay. I don't know why, I am not a bad writer, in fact I can be quite lucid and entertaining at times.
But anyway, job completed and I must thank Lynne Vittorio, a film essay tutor, who was my excellent adviser in talking me through the process and helping me find my voice. Feel free to read it at your leisure.

Holidays and Horses in ye good old days

1/2/2009

Now the holidays are here I have time to actually write anything, and the most interesting thing I discovered was that my house is made of horses hair. The builders were round the other day and when they were fixing the walls, the plasterboard was so old it fell apart. Under neath was this strange mixture of glue and hair and cement.

It was what they bonded the houses together with in Victorian times, that's Ye Olde England to you....as they had no chemicals like we have today. They also had no screws, everything is held together with tacks and nails. The scullery maids of the farms were sent out to collect cows hair and horses hair and then the construction companies had their horse and carts come and pick it up.
